PInrdoudsutcryt News 47 4G LTE IIoT Gateway Moxa: The new UC-8100-ME-T series is a 4G LTE-enabled edge computing solution designed for IIoT applications. The UC-8100-ME-T is built around an ARM Cortex-A8 1 GHz processor and comes with two RS-232/422/485 serial ports and dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN ports, as well as a Mini PCIe socket to support 3G/4G LTE cellular modules. 4G LTE connectivity speeds are up to ten times faster than previous generations of mobile communication technologies. However, this improvement comes with a disadvantage: the extra heat generated by the 4G LTE components in the IIoT gateway. Moxa offers wide-temperature LTE-enabled models that are available for extended-temperature applications. Since many legacy industrial protocols are not compatible with IoT technologies, sending data from edge devices to a cloud database is often a drain on engineering resources. An optional software tool that comes with the UC-8100-ME-T series is ThingsPro, an integrated data-acquisition and device-management software suite, which includes generic Modbus protocol support, as well as the IoT communication protocol MQTT. They are also able to maintain a highly reliable network with a solution that’s pre-tested and certified, and save space with an industrially hardened, compact fiber termination device. This partnership provides developers with a full stack toolset for building applications that connect real-world signals and data from industrial “things” to the digital world of information technology, mobile, and cloud computing. Through the partnership, developers and systems integrators have a concise toolset for connecting the OT and IT domains. The partnership combines OT domain expertise and technologies like RESTful APIs and Node-RED with computing platforms like the IBM Watson IoT platform to decrease development time, eliminate the need for expensive middleware, reduces risk for customers, and get solutions to market faster. MICA certified for Azure IoT HARTING: The company’s MICA product has been certified for Microsoft Azure for IoT. Microsoft’s certification process places demands on end devices which work with Microsoft Azure services.
