At 146-inch screen diameter it is indeed big enough to build a small cabin out of four of these TV’s. It is not just very big, it is also described as modular and multi-purpose, because users can alter the size and shape. Not the size of the TV as such, but the size of the area that is used to display something. In a demo at CES, the TV displayed in a smaller window in the center of the screen, while the surrounding area was set to blend in with the wall. I suppose you can also set it to display no TV at all, just adding a touch of color to your room without having to paint the walls. First, the energy efficient LED bulbs can change color or flash to direct emergency services exactly to where they are needed. In addition, the system can be fitted with a 4K camera and a two-way microphone and speaker. Further options include gunshot sensors, air-quality, temperature and humidity monitors. Beyond working as a surveillance station, the lampposts also incorporate an Intelli-Station module, which utilizes 2G, 5G, LTE, WiFi and ZigBee wirelessly interconnect devices and city-owned IoT across fiber or copper Ethernet. The whole system is completely modular, allowing system operators to snap in new components without replacing the entire unit. The concept has earned Wi-Fiber a “Best of CES 2018” award in the Smart City category. www.wi-fiber.us Leopold Ploner Private Ethernet 50 Looking back at CES 2018, “multi-purpose” was one of the buzzwords at the show.
