Product News Internet of Things (IIoT), device and machine manufacturers are required not only to connect their hardware to different industrial networks on OT (operational technology), but also to provide data to IT systems and IoT software. The support for OPC UA and MQTT in CompactCom facilitates communication with IT-systems and IIoT applications, offering data straight from a device or machine. Users will be able to analyze data from CompactComequipped devices and machines for the purpose of e.g. predictive maintenance and manufacturing optimization, key elements for realizing the vision of IIoT. EtherCAT with TSN networks Beckhoff: With the EK1000, the company expands its EtherCAT I/O system with a new bus coupler. The device enables the communication of EtherCAT segments with remote EtherCAT controllers via heterogeneous Ethernet networks. Through support of TSN (Time- Sensitive Networking) functions, the coupler enables delays caused by switches in Ethernet networks to be minimised and the wide range of EtherCAT I/O Terminals and other EtherCAT devices to be used in TSN network environments. The EtherCAT TSN Coupler combines the advantages of the EtherCAT world with those of TSN networks. EtherCAT is designed to support and combine the numerous small data packets of digital and analog inputs, which typically occur in industrial environments, into a complete process image. Batch-of-one fl exibility B&R: The new intelligent transport system, ACOPOStrak, can extend the economies of mass production down to batches of one. Purely electromagnetic ACOPOStrak diverters divide and merge product flows at full production speed. Among their many advantages is the ability to include a pit lane in the track layout. New shuttles are mounted on the pit lane and then channeled onto the track's actual production lines via a diverter. In the same way, any shuttles that are no longer needed can simply be rerouted to the pit lane. All of this takes place at full production speed. ACOPOStrak's design flexibility allows it to be used in all types of open and closed layouts by arranging different combinations of track segments. The system is capable of 5 g acceleration and reaches top speeds in excess of 4 meters per second with a minimum product pitch of only 50 millimeters. CC-Link IE development solutions CLPA: A comprehensive range of options is available for device makers wanting to utilize CC Link, whether with CC-Link IE’s open gigabit Ethernet or the recently introduced CC-Link IE Field Basic (IEFB) option, which extends CC-Link IE compatibility to 100Mbit Ethernet devices. A Hilscher solution is an extension of their netX platform which is a market leader for open automation networking. The options available include embedded modules that will make it easy for current customers to add CC-Link IE or IEFB compatibility to existing products already using the netX platform. In addition, TI offers a reference design to assist in the design of a CC-Link IE Field Basic master and slave, based on its Sitara processor portfolio. TI’s processors offer a variety of options for developing IEFB products. Compact Gigabit media converter eks Engel: New Ethernet media converters e-light 1000XS-G and e-light 1000XS-GP are specifi cally designed for industrial applications such as the networking of machines or IP cameras. Both devices have one electrical and one optical port each, supporting data rates of up to 1 Gbit/s. With extremely short latency cut-through mode ensures a communication without any delay and intermediate storage. Furthermore, e-light 1000XS-GP connects devices via PoE/PoE+ with a power of 30 W. The media converters can be mounted onto a DIN rail and have a powder coated housing. Due to its small dimensions (85 x 63 x 26 mm) it can be installed in diffi cult mounting spaces such as small distribution boxes or camera housings. icPLINK openPOWERLINK for QNX EPSG: The icPLINK software solution for implementation of the Ethernet POWERLINK communication protocol runs on the QNX real-time operating system. The communication stack is based on openPOWERLINK which guarantees the compatibility with the POWERLINK standard. Managing Nodes (MN) as well as Controlled Nodes (CN) can be implemented with the stack. The hardware architectures x86 and ARM are supported under QNX. The Ethernet communication can be performed with help of the QNX network driver for standard applications. As an option, IBV provides optimized link layer drivers (e. g. for TI Sitara) to achieve shorter cycle times and lower CPU load. Besides the POWERLINK communication, TCP/IP traffi c can be transferred over the same Ethernet network. For this, the stack provides a virtual Ethernet interface in the QNX network stack. Data is transmitted in the asynchronous phase of the POWERLINK cycle without infl uencing the real-time communication. Integrated automation connectivity Festo: Intelligent connectivity and flexible communication is provided for a series of all automation components. With the IoT gateway CPX-IoT as an interface between the automation platform and the cloud, machine and plant builders and operators can already benefit from Industry 4.0.
